Each year, 2% less CO2

In 2017, Aviapartner committed to emitting 14% less CO2 by 2025. The handling provider made that promise within the scope of the new framework agreement with Brussels Airport − and the company wants to achieve its goal by reducing CO2 by 2% every year.

As a first step, Aviapartner is replacing the diesel cars that its employees use at the airport by electric vehicles. Which model? That was up to the employees to decide…

Which electric car won the test?

Estrima Birò, Renault Twizy and Citroën C-Zéro – those are the electric cars that Aviapartner’s employees could test for 1 week at Brussels Airport.

Which model did they choose to be the new Aviapartner car? The winner was the Citroen C-Zéro! The Estrima Birò and Renault Twizy felt unsafe to some people, and the C-Zéro’s additional functionalities − such as heating − were decisive.

Planting trees in Guadalajara

Since 2017, Aviapartner has been supporting the Fundación Apadrina Un Árbol (freely translated: Sponsor a Tree Foundation). The non-profit foundation, based in the Spanish province of Guadalajara, is working to raise awareness about nature, the environment, science, culture and the sustainable development of rural areas.

The headquarters of the Fundación Apadrina Un Árbol is located in a former emergency shelter in the middle of a disaster zone. In 2005, severe forest fires raged in the area and destroyed 13,000 hectares of forest about 55 km from Madrid.

On 21 March, International Forest Day, all of Aviapartner’s customers who participated in a satisfaction survey received a surprise in their mailbox: a certificate for a personal tree in Guadalajara. The campaign was received very positively everywhere!

Sponsor 1 tree for 5 years for €5

Three days later, in the context of WWF’s Earth Hour campaign, Aviapartner also sent an invitation to all employees to sponsor a tree for 5 years for only €5. That amount is being used to plant and maintain the tree. Thanks to Aviapartner’s 2 initiatives, a total of just over 200 trees could be planted.

In the future, Aviapartner will also offset its paper consumption by planting new trees in Spain. An initiative we applaud wholeheartedly!
